Edward Chilvers
Edward Chilvers is an incredibly talented pianist that takes music to new levels
Whilst most of us can appreciate 2/4 time, or 3/4 time, anything more than that is beyond many musicians
Edward likes to play polyrhythmicly, that is to say, he will play with multiple rhythms – sometimes as many as 4 at the same time
Clearly, this is not a simple thing to understand so we were asked to produce a series of 5 videos that explained not only polyrhythms, but also other concepts such as polyphasing
Those 5 videos are below, and they enabled Edward to address a much larger audience than would have been the case if he had explained the concept in one of his concertsw which was complemented by GoPros mounted on, or very near, the main instruments

That was followed by a series of promotional videos for Edward Chilvers, a totally unique musician who can play 6 polyrhythms simultaneously!
The challenge of the video series was to enable the viewer to understand a complex topic. Polyrhythms are somewhat alien to most people’s ears, and the technique of playing the multiple , simultaneous rhythms and keys needed to be explained
We therefore used an “Interview and response” mechanism to guide the process throughout
So a sequence of videos, starting with the basics, and moving up to mind bogglingly complex keys and rhythms were recorded
The whole series was 5 linked videos that promoted Eddie’s latest CD, and were watched in total over 10,000 times leading to a massive uplift in CD and sheet music sales aswell as guest appearances at festivals such as Glastonbury
